Tammy is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. She freelances to provide marketing assistance for local and statewide companies. Tammy is also the owner and director of Dance Station Incorporated featuring the national award-winning dance team, Carolina FreeStyle, in Chapin, South Carolina. Her team has performed all over. They are regular performers at the South Carolina State Fair, Newberry Opera House, Country Tonite Theater in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Walt Disney World in Florida, and New York City where they have performed on the National NBC television program the Today Show. Tammy and her studio are referenced in Debbie Roberts’ book on How to Run a Successful Dance Studio. Tammy has been seen on several television commercials for hospitals, heath care, car dealerships, public service announcements, and more. She also has co-hosted radio and television programs. Tammy has also adorned the pages of local newspapers and magazines and has modeling in fashion shows and charity events. Mrs. Johns also directs, choreographs, emcees, and performs for many types of events all over the United States.
Tammy also works in the film and television industry.
Tammy serves as Chair on the Board of Directors and works with WIS Television to produce the state Christmas parade, Carolina Carillon State Holiday Parade in Columbia. Along with performing with her studio in local nursing homes several times a year, Mrs. Johns also has a project that sends food to the Manna House and Harvest Hope Food Bank several times a year. Since her accident she helps and supports others who have long recovery times and serious injuries and illnesses. Recently, she is working with the South Carolina Arts Commission, the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association. She is also heavily involved with the American Cancer Society to help awareness, support and raise money for the organization. Now Tammy is honored to be a National Spokesperson for American Cancer Society.
Tammy Johns has held numerous local, state and national pageant titles. She is married to Mr. Paul Brown. The couple loves to travel and is very involved in community activities throughout the nation. Together they believe in the importance of family. July 21- 23, 2009, in Las Vegas 54 beautiful and well accomplished married women gathered and competed for the nation title of Mrs. United States. Competing were all 50 states and Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and District of Columbia. All the ladies competed in interview, swimsuit and evening gown. Then on the final night the top 12 competed in on-stage question, swimsuit and gown. When the winner was called as South Carolina, Tammy Johns-Brown it made it the first time in the pageants 23 year history that a state won the title 2 years in a row. Gariane Gunter, Mrs. United States 2008 and Tammy Johns-Brown, Mrs. Unites States 2009 are both thrilled to achieve this honor first. Dr. Gunter is from Leesville and Mrs. Johns is from Chapin.
“Excited, honored and thrilled” is how Tammy felt when Joe Joseph called her name as the new Mrs. United States. “It is such an honor to represent the contemporary married women of today” she states. Tammy is owner of the national award winning dance studio of Dance Station Incorporated featuring Carolina FreeStyle based in Chapin. Her platform is you must dream it, believe it and achieve it. She has been promoting this ideal for over 20 years. This platform came about for Mrs. Johns after she was in a sever car accident that left doctors wondering if she would walk again. Now she not only walks but performs all over the southeast. ” Because of my trials, having a national award winning dance team even more special. I get to do what I love all the time.”

On July 24, 2009 NBC affiliates in South Carolina announced that Tammy had won the night before. Since she was still in Las Vegas all interviews were done via phone beginning at 1:30 am Las Vegas time which is 4:30 a,South Carolina time.
A few days later the local newspapers around the State ran articles featuring Tammy Johns’ win. The phone calls have not stopped.
Tammy returned home on July 27, to more interviews. On July 29, she traveled the state for more interviews and commercials about her win and plans. Next on July 28, Tammy did radio interview for a station in Lakeland, Florida (WLKF). Then on
July 31, she did a 20 minute television segment on a cable channel for Chapin, South Carolina. It has been very busy already.

Little Mountain Reunion
The Little Mountain Reunion is the oldest festival in South Carolina. Tammy was involved to participate in the action packed festival.
Later that afternoon Tammy and Paul did a live radio interview with WKDK.
On August 3, 2009, Tammy’s grandmother passes away. ” I knew it was bad when her nurse called while I was in Las Vegas.” Her funeral was August 5, 2009. ” We will miss her greatly. She was a true lady.” Tammy would like to thank the ladies at the competition who listen to her talk about a her grandmother after she received the phone call.
